SRX 1136cc Race Sled Buildup

Ok. Here goes the pics. I hope you all like them. The project is not yet finished, but will be in about a month or so. The sled started off as a 2001 SRX700.

The first pic is of the black upholstered seat, black bellypan, black rear bumper cover, and polished tunnel.

This is a picture of the powdercoated front end and rails. I had the rails and trailing arms powdercoated black, and the rest powdercoated chrome. It was all done by Fireball Coatings.

Here's a picture of the front end installed on the sled. I took off the Ohlins front shocks, and am running Wahl prostock shocks now. I also have some billet ski loops for an RX-1 on there. A good friend of mine milled some mounting brackets for me out of billet aluminum.

Here's a picture of the rear skid assembled with the powdercoated rails, bender transfer rods, and Mountain Machines billet wheels. I have a total of 18 wheels on the bottom, with 8" wheels at the back using a Mountain Machines Freedom axel.

This is the gas tank, or what used to be the gas tank. I cut out the entire front and bottom of the tank and mounted a Wahl fuel tank inside. That way when the hood is closed it still looks factory. You can't see well from the picture because my brake lever is in the way, but there's a high volume Bombardier fuel pump in there as well.

Well, here's the heart of the sled. It's an SX700 base, stroked to 72mm. The cylinders are Price Performance, with a total displacement of 1108cc's. The pipes are Jaws prostock pipes. The motor is good for 270hp and 160ish ft. lbs. of torque. The pipes are going to be powdercoated chrome sometime over the summer. I hate black pipes.

On to the paint. First, we painted the hood black. Then, we started in on the flames. This is the first layer of white flames......the first stage.

This weekend we are going to finish the painting. We will be throwing on another layer of white flames, then spraying it again with the transparent blue. We're doing this to give it a nice, interweaved look.

Here's a picture of the track. It's a Camoplast 9810R, closed window, clipless track. It only weighs 28lbs. I installed 192 Woody's 1" ice picks.

Here's a picture of the chassis, lowered. It is not possible to lower the front of the rear skid any further. It is damn low, but aligned perfectly.

Yes, I will clean off all of the fingerprints on the belt cover.
