Did a little working on the sleds today. Put an SLP can on one Viper, rejetted for the pipes and cleaned the carbs on the other Viper, checked compression on the SX after the rebuild to see what it was. All cylinders around 100psi on a cold motor. Also pulled power valve on the one Viper and I need to clean those yet on both Vipers.

TO DO LIST:
Clean Viper power valves
Change clutch weight rivets and spring on SX 136
Find a pair of skis for the SX 136
Replace handwarmer on SX 136
Run Viper with pipes and check plugs (test and tune)
Call a guy about a 153 skid and 156 track from a nytro mtx for the one Viper
Tweak clutching on the Apex so it runs at 10,500

My dad bought the 153 skid today that came from an 08 Nytro. It's got an arctic cat rear axle with billet wheels that is put on backwards. This will allow us to run the Challenger Extreme 156"x2.5" track which we also bought. And we also got his stock Nytro 7 tooth drivers. Gonna see if this all works sometime in the near future.

Here is the skid, track, and drivers we got.

Run Viper with pipes and check plugs (test and tune)
Find a 156"x2.25" either 3.0 or 2.52 pitch Camo Extreme

Hopefully that gets a whole lot better, have you checked it hot throttle open??

I'm thinking we have a crappy gauge. Since the Vipers read 100-100-90 and I know they shouldn't be that low. Need to find another guage to try.

Our 153x2.25 3.0 pitch track showed up the other day, everything is ready to go in just need to find time to do this to the Viper.

Well the Viper is all tore apart, track, susp, drive shaft, secondary clutch, and chaincase are all off of it. Now to press on the 7 tooth drivers and put it all back together. Should be done tomorrow by about 4 or 5 I'm hoping as we are planning to head north to Bottineau tomorrow night. Will post pics on here in a little bit of it tore apart.

Here we show a before shot, skids next to each other, drive shaft, and drivers that need to go on.

153" stretch is done, slight contact with the rear of the tunnel, we didn't use a tunnel extension, skid is mounted in lower drop bracket hole..a 2.25" 3.0 pitch track with 7 tooth drivers WILL NOT fit in a stock Viper Mountain, we trimmed the lugs down to about a 2", my dad said he could notice quite a difference compared to the 144 though...pics will be posted in the near future

TO DO LIST:
Find a pair of skis for the SX 136
Run Viper with pipes and check plugs (test and tune)

Here's a little teaser pic off my cell phone

Looking good! Just curious how big are the 7 tooth drivers compared to the 8? Some 7's are just as big diameter wise as the 8's.

More PIcs!

Well 8 tooth drivers at 2.52 pitch is 8x2.52 = 20.16inches in circumference or about 6.42inches in diameter

7 tooth drivers at 3.0 pitch is 7x3.0pitch = 21inches in circumference or about 6.69inches in diameter

So they are about 1/4inch in diameter bigger, so about 1/8inch less clearance when in the sled

More pics will be posted later today.

When we did the driver swap we also went to extrovert drivers. The skid and drivers are from a 08 Nytro MTX. Rear axle is offset with big wheels so you can turn it around and run a 156 or probably a 159 too. Has arctic cat track tensioners on it. Track is a 153 3.0 pitch Challenger cut down to about 2inches.

Well we decided to take the arctic cat rear axle off of the stretch as this might fix our problem with hitting in the rear when the suspension bottoms. I might slot the rails on my Apex and run this big wheel kit instead.

Did an oil change and painted my gauge rings on my Honda Prelude last night.

The twins are currently in the garage. The one under the cover needs some clutching work done to it. And the one on the lift is getting a different trailing arm put on after bending the current one on the last ride of the season in Bear Lodge, WY.

Today I got the coolant drained down enough and the old tunnel extension removed. Need to drill holes in the new one and get that put on. Got the carbs all cleaned on the 05 Piped Viper. Had 2 plugged pilot jets on that one. Have the airbox out of the 97 SX, needs some new fuel line for that one and then I'll clean the carbs.
