01 SRX build

I have just began a similar project. I picked up a 2000 SRX last week with only 4000kms. The sled is complete, and running but very dirty. The plastics are in nice shape, but the seat needs to be replaced. It obviously hasn't been looked after for a long time. The price was right, and I'm well stocked for parts.

I started cleaning it up, and found a few issues so far. The primary spring was broken, which no doubt accounted for its lack of performance. The TPS fault indicator lights are flashing so it may need to be replaced as well. Last night I pulled the power valves out. All 3 cables had pulled through. The PV's appear like they've never been cleaned.

I found a mint Viper seat, which is on the way.

Aside from this, it's coming together nicely. Hopefully with new PV's and rebuilt clutches it will be good to goIMG_1640.jpg

Love the black SRX!

Thanks DTurn. That's my pro stock 700 snow drag rig. I built that one last year for local races. So far so good!

Did you come to Winnipeg last year to run at the downs but left because you couldn't run in a class or something? There was a VMAX 4 there too.

X Army - Amy update on your build?

Not too much. I'm now in the planning stage. Since it has M10 on the rear, I want to put "longer than stock SRX travel" on the front as well. I'm working out the best/ economical way to do it. I'd love to hear any suggestions. I'm thinking the longer SXR radius/ tie rods, but not sure what shocks will work yet.

Are stock SXR shocks longer? From searching, I know the SXR has "long travel" proaction, but I can't find the length of the SXR shock vs the SRX shock.

Is there an adapter to mount viper shocks on an SRX? I've read a few posts about it, but they were dated 2014. And Pioneer no longer exists.

Well....after paying my registration fees and passing through tech inspection (successfully) with both sleds, the race director tells us at the drivers meeting that he doesn't think my sleds are fair and says he's not allowing me to race....both sleds passed through tech, and I was completely honest during registration. Instead of causing a fuss, I loaded them back up in the trailer and drove the 4.5hrs home. I was not impressed! No explanation given to me why he didn't like my rigs.

I don't even remember what tech was their, but it is usually not very thorough as none of the events are sanctioned here. What classes did you enter Pro-stock or improved? I didn't really like the class layout all year, as soon as you have picks you move to prostock, so for the guys with trail picks just looking to have some fun he had to go into prostock. When I was standing in line registering that's exactly what happened. They used to have a improved picked class but for some reason it has disappeared. We learnt our lesson running picks and will only be running rubber now.

I was at those races too and wanted to see that Vmax 4 race looked pretty interesting but then there were guys talking about your sled after you left about your suspension being proline or whal and was not entered in the right class
sure would have like to see that sled race

Did you have that blacked out srx there too ?

The track was crap though and made for tough racing we had a 98 SRX 700 improver sled there with a blue RX1 warrior both our sleds just sat there and spun no traction at all

Theyre planning another race there this winter but having SSRA hosting and doing the teching weight scale and lighting system will know more this winter as the younger guy that was kinda in charge runs A few srxs
I should have my srx and 97 Vmax 4 MM there too

Sorry for stealing this post....

Yes, the Vmax4 and black SRX Are mine.

What irritated me is that there were no consistent "rules". I spoke with one of the organizers who told me I could run both in Improved as they had no studs. Yes, both have Wahl skids. I registered both sleds in Improved and Modified classes. Both sleds went through tech inspection and passed for their Improved class. I realize they would not be allowed in an ISR sanctioned "Improved" class, but they were not following ISR rules in other areas, nor was this a sanctioned race.

After passing through tech, the "rules" apparently changed. During the drivers meeting I was told I was not allowed to race. Perhaps if the race director had some concerns, he could of spoken with me and sorted this out in a better way.

I'm looking forward to coming back this winter to give it another try.

Small update. As I stated before, the PO ran it without an exhaust gasket on cyl 3. This caused a couple issues.

One, the motor and motor area were solid thick black oily gunk. I got the hull cleaned up as seen in a previous post, now the motor is cleaned up. (it was bad)

Found a donor pipe on ebay for $12 shipped (mismarked. supposed to be on sale for $120) You may ask why I didn't just use the whole "new" pipe. Because it was the pipe from cyl 1.

Idler wheels. Do these things really cost $40 each? I want to get rid of the ugly red ones on mine. I've looked around, but most I've seen don't tell me the bearing ID. With the M10 on it, I can't look them up by vehicle. Suggestions?

You can use a "2004 polaris 600 Classic" to look up your idler wheels and sliders, this sled came with the M-10 and it has silver rear wheels stock.
