01 SRX build

So I've been busy. Other obligations have had priority, but now it's time to get back to the build.

Installing new crank seals.

When you initially cure the paint(while running the engine), block off any vents that are directed onto the freshly painted pipe. That cold air blowing onto the hot pipe will peel the paint in that area.

My sled has M10 in the rear so I'm converting the front to long travel as well. I'm using viper shocks and have been debating how to make the upper mount work. I wound up way over thinking it and decided to keep it simple. Due to lack of aftermarket options, I just made my own mounts for less than $2. I made them a little wider so the shock clevis will fit inside. Add a spacer in the clevis to prevent collapsing and a couple teflon-ish type washers between mount and bracket. I'll post mounted pics later.

Getting close!!!! Playing with my clutches. I'm not going to get fancy with them at the moment, that will come down the road. Just inspecting for damage or worn out components. Weights look good. Rollers need help. Shoes on the secondary are barely worn. Overall they look pretty good once cleaned up.

Primary spring is YWW? Thought the first and last color were always the same. The chart says stock is YWY. So what's the difference? The secondary spring is red. (I posted a pic of the primary spring but it refuses to show up on here)

What do you have for Clutch arms? Weight in tip? heel? Clutching is the single best performance mod for a stock srx, and is not all that expensive, I have found so far Heel Clicker kits work really well but stock can be tuned to be pretty impressive as well. Do some research on here especially what Mr. Viper has offered.

I guess I don't know. I assume it's stock. I do want to do some upgrades in that area. I know it's the best way to improve performance. I just haven't sat down and researched it yet.

Looks like the build is coming along well. Are you polishing up the exhaust shields as well?
The primary spring color is odd, all of the factory color specs have the first and third color the same, and it denotes spring rate. The middle color is for preload. Maybe it's somehow a factory oops, or any chance it looks like just the one marking has faded?

Polishing, yes. Not necessarily to a mirror finish, but polished. No fade, it's what you see YWW. Don't know.

cheap primary setup: 8DN 20(probably what you have), 4.5g mid, 4.5 tip with a w-w-w or g-w-g spring.
Secondary: green @ 60 or 70 with 53/43 for all around trail and decent on the big end.
If you want more top something more shallow like a 50/36 works good, might need to remove tip weight though.
