I have removed the control rod assy for inspection and found that this asy does not have any affect when I compress the rod. I have done this quickly and slowly. There is no cushioning or dampening effect. What does this control rod asy do? Is it supposed to be a damper. I do not see any ports where it can exhaust or refill with air. What replacement parts are required that may be worn? I am referring to the asy that includes Yamaha part number 8FU-4745A-00-00 and 8FU-4745C-10-00. Thanks for your help.

There should be no dampening. This is also known as the transfer rod, it can be adjusted to transfer weight to either the front or back of the sled. if you transfer weight to the rear you get more traction, go the other way and you get better steering.
