I have 1990 Ovation that will run. It smokes when starting up and bogs down at first, but then clears and runs good at half to full throttle. Then when stopping it will not idle. When I cleaned up the clutches, i noticed the primary clutch turns very easy and can hear a light clunking in the cylinder. This is just a ice fishing sled, that I would like to make reliable. Any information is greatly appreciated. The sled sat for two years. I cleaned the carbs yesterday. They were dirty and the airbox had acorn hulls in it. Could a clogged muffler cause some of this? Thank you for any suggestions.
the bogging is normal when the sled is cold. once warmed up they act fine. take the muffler off and shake it to see if it rattles. it shouldn't.
you should replace the fuel filter too but i think the carb cleaning will have solved the problem.
