Stator question

So about a year ago when I first started taking apart the engine on my srx to rebuild it, I took off the recoil and discovered that on one of the windings in my stator there appeared to be a burn through mark on a few wires. After looking at prices for a new stator and looking at YouTube, I'm thinking I might try to rewind it. Does anyone on here gave any experience on this? First wondering what size wire I need? Thanks in advance
