Been doing some searching on here, and see in old posts that many advise not to do the airbox mod on a 700.
Strikes me as odd.
I have it done on mine, and it is the best running, least finicky sled I own.
Always runs great, regardless of temp.

I have bender pipes, thinned head gasket, air box mod, reed spacers.

Who has actually had a problem with this ?

Air box mod is drilling holes on the top.
My jetting is 150 mains, 47.5 pilots, stock needles if i recall correctly.

I believe the consensus was the holes in the top half of the airbox under the filter were more than safe, it was removing or modifying the shelf that typically made jetting finiky.

From what I remember adding the holes and jetting to compensate on the dyno the gain was not worth all the much for the work involved and the fuel consumption suffered as well as the throttle was not as crisp. I am only trying to remember and my age may be finally showing..LOL

But if yours is working great and are happy, they I am happy for you. :)

Yes, it does work well. I really couldn't be any happier with that sled.
Its my ditch sled, and I ride it more than anything else.
Hard to beat a redhead with long travel for the ditches !
