I'm convinced it's a rare failure for any Yamaha snowmobile. Even more surprising, its on a 60hp Phazer! Anyways me and my brother reassembled our latest freaken project but 15 kms into the first ride , we'll you know........Weird shit happens!

P.S. I realized I should have posted this in General discussions

You think it took a hit? Maybe.
I thoroughly looked it over before installing it and it looked in presteen condition. Obviously that wasn't the case....

The extra braces mounted on the side of the tunnel, did you install them or the original owner? Might have taken a LARGE "hit"?

That's the original owners design. Only paid 600$ for this sled, so we didn't expect much out of it to start with. The back end definitely got a hit at one time. Witch is no biggy as we have a clean and strength tunnel extension off a parts Venture to had on soon.

I managed to replace one of the damaged middle cog on this 600 Venture drive shaft. Got all new bearings and seal for it. Should have it reassembled for tomorrow.

Is there a dark area at the break? Or is that just a shadow?
It probably broke from the sheer torque that monster puts out.

You are correct, that is a visible dark area in the shaft break surface, witch I can't wipe off. On the other side visible signs of rust spots in the grain of the metal.

weird it was dead centre like that. brother broke the one on an 01 sx500r but it was inside the driver a bit. made for an epic ty ride story though.
