VK540 primer

2018 vk540 is hard starting in very cold weather. Takes forever to fire, and runs on 1 for a couple minutes. It's annoying. Dealer recommends putting primer kit fitting on the top fitting in this photo (the forum rotates it...the left) I'm somewhat hesitant about that as I have seen other Mikunis where those ports are in line with internal plumbing. Would anyone here have any thoughts on where to put the primer nipple?

Why wouldnt you just put it in the clear spot? Are you saying you would put it in one of those raised circle looking things?
 
Yeah into the main body seems to make sense to me; dealer suggests the raised thing, but I'm leery that that raised thing is actually a drill port like on the older Mikunis.
