  1. #1

    Default WTB Cast iron woodstove

I'm looking for an air tight model from the 80s in great shape ready to go for winter.

    Fisher or similar model

    Non insert.

    Must be cast iron

Well I found my Fisher. It is the Grandpa Bear model with Cathedral doors with a Heatilator.

Should keep me much warmer on those -20 nights in the U.P.

nice. trying to find one for camp to upgrade as the one there keeps bending the door where it latches.

Only 2 hr drive to get it. That was even better.

You must have some thin walled steel on yours Maim.

The doors on a fisher are cast iron and stove is 3/8 steel with 5/16 top plate. I cant wait to get out the big iron skillet and make the kids eggs and bacon this winter. I can surely keep my coffee warm on it.

the one at camp is not a fisher but we want to up grade to one. the one there has a glass door and the frame on the door keeps bending at the latch.

Bob Fisher got out of the business in the mid 80s with these stoves due to tighter EPA regs. Many people still run these stoves today. It's quite a shame as stoves these days do not have the same quality imo

    3/8 steel

He probably ran it with broken fire bricks and ended up eating the back of it out
