I couldn't get ahold of a can of carb cleaner, so this guy suggests brake cleaner? Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but that won't be good to the carbs because of all the non metal parts inside. Correct?

You can use brake cleaners without any issues as long as it's NONE chlorinated brake cleaner.... I would remove all rubber and gaskets components as some do react to brake / parts cleaners...

I was thinking about the consequences of using it because all parts in a carbs are not metal, there is rubber, and plastic. Won't that get harmed by brake cleaner?

I havent seen brake clean hurt the plastic floats or harm the little rubber o-rings. I have used it to clean ALOT of snowmobile carbs

Brake cleaner is my go-to. Not because it's necessarily better, but because there's always some in the cupboard.

I use brake clean every time I clean the carbs. Carb clean evaporates to fast and brake clean stays around longer give you time to work with the parts.
