Has anyone ever successfully got the press on race from the PTO end bearing of an SRX crank off without damaging it? I have a good crank that needs the PTO bearing race replaced as I'd say this one sat with moisture in the bearing and it pitted the race and the only way to get a new race is to buy the whole bearing assembly to the tune of $465 Canadian. I have another crank with a bad centre rod but if I could get the race off the PTO end I could put it on the other crank, otherwise I will have to send both cranks to a machine shop to have them completely pressed apart to have the PTO end swapped.

I'd try freezing the crank in the chest freezer. Once your press is configured correctly, go get the crank and place it in there. With a fine tipped brazing torch, heat up JUST the bearing.

you could try supporting the bearing and use dry ice on the crank to make it shrink out of the bearing.
