Hi all,

I have a 2000 SXR 700 with the Hauk/Simons CPR pipes, VForce 3 reeds, Hauk clutching and a 1 1/4" ripsaw track.

This thing is a gas pig! 6 MPG cruising along!

It has the recommended jetting in it now

Mains: 150 across

Pilots: 45 (stock)

Needle are PTO 3 Center 4 MAG 4 (washers under clips)

Air screws were at 3.5 (had idle hang after long pulls, previous owner had them set there)

Air bleed screws are 1.2 (as recommended)

Compression is good, reeds are good and plugs are BLACK.

I am riding under 2,000 feet anywhere from 15*-30*F

It's also using excessive amounts of oil too. Almost 2 quarts in 100 miles.

I am assuming that the excessive oil consumption is causing it to run like crap. If I go WOT from a dead stop it just doesn't have that snap. It bogs and you have to ease into the throttle. Once you hit the mid range, I can let off for a second and then go WOT and it pulls like crazy.

I checked the clutches and everything was on par with what Turk recommended in some old posts.

What should my oil consumption be?

If I have idle hang does that mean I need to use a larger pilot jet? They (HAUCK) recommended the air screws be set at 1.5 turns out. The 3.5 turns makes me wonder if they were trying to make it act like it had a larger pilot jet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

sounding like the oil pump might have failed. on a yamaha, when the oil pump fails, it fails in the wide open position. saves the motor from burndown but it gets really hard on oil.
