List of aftermarket helix angles

anybody know what a rpc3 helix is? its a cat helix for a cat secondary, but rpc was big into putting cat secondaries on earlier yamaha sleds. trying to find out the angle. its looking like a 58 to 62 deg start, but does anyone know the angle for sure? thanks.

RPC3 is 62-33
RPC2 is 60-40
RPC1 is 57-38

Is there any way to tell which Bender 9770 I have. It was on the sled when I got her. Didn't realize there were so many 9770s.
On the set-up sheet from bender that came with the sled, it just says...CK9770 . Should probably be a 49/37 then ????

Thanks

i would assume 49/37, if yours doesn't have any letters at the end of the engraved code of 9770.

BADSLED, turk had posted a topic about measuring helix angles. you take a digital angle gage, and stick a nut to 1 of the magnets that are on its sides, and then while having the helix lay flat on a table, with the ramps facing up, you set the angle gage w/nut on the helix ramp and you can measure the angle that way. i've done this method before and have found myself to be within .5deg from me just eyeing it up w/a machinist plate protractor.

!

guys, i was measuring up some of my helix angles, and came up w/the following measurements.

HAUCK:
"K"-45/41 but measures 43/38

BENDER:
"02VTP-49/45 but measures 50/47
45/30 but measures 45/32
"9770S"-51/39 and measures 51/39
"03RX1"-51/43 but measures 51/44
51/37 but measures 51/38
"9770"-49/37 but measures 49/38
"2002B"-47/43 and measures 47/43

MAXX PERF:
51/45 but measures 50/46
"MSR8"-52/40 but measures 51/40

ADVANT-EDGE:
47/41 but measures 49/41

DALTON:
46/36 but measures 42/32
48/34 but measures 45/33

OEM:
45 but measures 43
41 and measures 41

here's a few more......

HAUCK:
"J"-47 but measures 45 to 46
"D"-51/43 but measures 49/41

KINETIC:
49/42 but measures 46/41

MEGA-POWER:
"M4"-58/34 but measures 49/31
"M5"-56/42 but measures 52/38

BENDER:
"9470"-53/49 but measures 53.5/48

"mopar1rules" You 'da man!! Thanks for posting the angles.. Now if we could only get you to do video of how to measure them and post it here or youtube.com it would be extremely helpful..

Sounds like Bender helixes are the closest to actual advertised helix angles.

that is correct. maxximum performance helixs are very close to the actual stamping as well.

what is a hauck g helix?

pete, according to the hauck list on the first page of this topic, its said to be a 49/41. i doubt it measures that, as the haucks are always lower than what's stamped, etc.

helix agles

Very informative. How are u measuring these angles? if they r cnc these babies wouldn't u think they would be closer. again with all due respect?

I'm measuring the angles w/a digital "angle cube" and w/machinist plate protractor. It don't matter if they are cnc'ed or not, as its how they have the "x" axis advancement versus 4th axis programmed. Basically its how they have the program written. When I cut my own helix on the 4th axis, I drew up my desired angle in AutoCad and then off the Cad drawing, I used those numbers to write my program.
