Here is this years sled build:

I am in the process of rebuilding and customizing a 84 Vmax 540. The sled will be ripped to the chassis and painted. The tunnel will be extended to accept a 136 Mono skid. The front will be widened to accept 90's Vmax style TSS struts. So far its a long precess and lots of elbow grease to get this old girl apart.

I know what you mean did the same thing with my SSX I built. Keep the progress reports and pictures coming.

This is a project I've always wanted to do myself but never get the time.

A suggestion. When widening it, widen it to a width that will allow you to use a stock Yamaha sway bar. I never liked the looks of the aftermarket bars that were available for the Vmax 540's and cutting one to adjust for width just doesn't work well. There is room to mount a stock bar in the same fashion as a the later TSS sleds did. I'm not sure which is the widest or stiffest but I would guess the Vmax-4 sway bar would be it.

Good Luck, opsled

PS, I have a barn full of 540's so let me know if you are in need of something.

I am in need of a 94-96 front end and may just cut that out and implant it. But if you have any Vmax4 parts or place I can get that stuff that would be great.

I have a 136 Mono that I am installing.
I don't think that I said that right... You mentioned about swapping out the "front end" I assumed the front suspension cradle(pogo sticks), the 600XT's had more suspension travel than the regular vmax's and the 500xt's, pls there is adjustability on the shocks-compression I think.

P.S. I also have a Brand NEW Bender Racing(Don't shoot me Mr.Sled) "stiffer sway bar" for the 94-96 version TSS suspension if you go that route.

I would love to go with the 96 XT600 version but it was hard to find so I will be sticking with the 94 Vmax front. What are you looking to get out of the sway bar??

P.m me with an offer.... and let me know your info so I can get shipping costs. I bought it for my '96 XT I had and never got the chance to install it before I sold it.

At this point I need to see how everything is going to fit with the sway bar before I dump more money into the sled on parts that wont pan out.
