What's everyones take on the 600 triple vs 700 triple , reliability difference? Hp difference? Fuel economy difference? Performance difference?

We had a 98 600 xtc and a 97 700sx at the same time. the 700 was better on fuel.

I'm with Bob on this!!!!!!(plus a little porting to boot when changing the 600 cyls to 700 cyls).

The 600 triple red head motor is obiviously the little brother to the triple 700 all of the internals should be the same from the 600 to the 700 (except for the obvious, cyl head, carbs, pistons, cylinders). It will make less horsepower than the 700 but that is because of less cc's to make the horsepower.

I agree.......it's more time & $$ to go from a 600 to 700 so go 700 from the start.....if you don't have that option, transform it into a 700. ;)!

Seriously now...

The 600SX[SXR] is a heck of a sled, the reliability is as good as it gets and fuel economy is pretty good. The only thing about a 600 is that the 700 does everything the 600 does just better.
The 600 to go after would be the Venom...A real sleeper!
-Red Head reliability
-no power valves to clean
-ability to convert easily to a 700
-Viper chassis
-manufactured right up to 2006
-legitimately well under 500lbs dry!
-SX[SXR] tripple pipes fit it

Trouble would be finding one!

The 98 600 xtc was a twin though, and not a red head triple. Later the triple 600 replaced the twin 600.

The red head triple 700 will definitely be better on gas, and make more power than that twin.

Our 97 venture 600 with that same 600 twin is a good motor, but gets only 10 mpg at best, usually just under 10 mpg is normal for us. The red head triple 7's I have ridden with got 12 mpg easily.

The 600 get worse milage thank the 700 every trip on ours. The clutching is quite abit different also. If you can find a 700 pick it up. My Wife runns the 600 while I ride the 700. She always used much more fuel than I or my Son's Viper. Al

Yep, 700 gets better mileage, don't know why. My Dad's 700 would constantly use around 1/2 gallon less at fuel stops than my 600. Both were 01' SX-Rs . There is only about 12hp difference between the 2 from the factory.

And more than likely, you probably have a slightly heavier thumb than she does. That's a little perspective for ya (ski-man) as far as MPGs go.

How do you get by riding in Wisconsin with after market pipes? I got a ticket in Wisconsin 20 years ago with a set of Riechard pipes on my Vmax 600 twin, wit a custom silencer. Sled was much quieter than ZRT 600s or 800s. DNR didn't care because my sled had after market pipes on it. By the way that 600 twin would walk away from 700 SXs that were stock even if they had a can.
