My buddy just bought a '99 srx 700, 196 studs(pretty worn), stock track, everything else is stock except for transfer rods, he weighs 200 lbs. i have a '99 Srx 600, 196 studs, stock track, minor clutch work, gutted airbox, i weigh 170 lbs. Do i stand a chance? If not how much faster are the 700s?

They seem to be a whole lot faster. Had a 98 600 and now I have a 02 700.
But then again, I have clutch work on the current sled. But it's like a 20 hp diff or something like that.

My 99 700 would radar at 114mph on hardpack most days...I saw a 98 600 same mods as yours run 106 in the same conditions ( running 2000ft )..my 99 had minor clutching and 144 studs. Sort race would be close but I'd put money on the 700 after 1000ft

Your mods will help but I give it to the 700. Might be close for the first couple hundred feet. I have 98 srx 600, 2X99 srx 700 and 2X00 700 srx. I picked up a 98 600 srx hood and am thinking about putting it on the 99 700 just to hear the guys squeal about a 600 srx whooping them! You could swap out your top end and razz him endlessly how a 600 spakned him!

well finally lined up today and i jumped him off the line by about two lengths, by the time we hit 30 or so i looked back and started walking away to about 7 lengths and held em till about 110 mph, finally got my clutching dialed to a T so i think that helps a ton but was still suprised none the less!

Um....yeah what staggs said. Sleds are basically identical with you being down a 100cc and 30lbs. Even with 700 in factory trim running as it should you should have had your hands full keeping up. As stated earlier in this thread I have a 98 srx 600 and a few 99,00,01 srx 700's.
