Picked myself up a nice 98 vmax xtc 600 twin for a fun project. Its super clean and i got a great price on it. Im going to "viperize" it with my extra viper parts and just build me a nice home, river, ditch banger sled. Few things planed and im sure more to come. First things first was to tear it down. I know the sled so the 2800 miles on it are very light. Sled was always stored and serviced right. This thing for its age was clean enough to eat off of. Very little clean up for me. Just some bent radius rods to fix and to clean up the tunnel (got rid of the decals). I want the black tunnel, then im going to bedliner the running boards and fett brothers natural grip strips for the board rails. Polish the foot wells. Then removed the pinstripe from the hood (hate the colors as it is) to clean it up a bit. I like it better already with them off. New track with a 1" ultimate traxion with 121 studs down the middle. Should improve hook up. Plastic ski's with bergsrom carbides and ski savers. Then the whole back will be viper. Extra heat exchanger, bumper and bumper cover. Then my red viper s seat with riser. Lastly my old cut down viper bars with hooks and viper warmers. Will have my hand guards and such to go along with it. A few extra's might be HID for light mod. We shall see. Here are some pic's so far.

Cool, that should look good when you finish it. That will be a fun project. Good Luck!!!!!!

Nice little project Chris. That'll keep you out of trouble for a while. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Should look sharp "Viperized".

Nothing fun for sleds around here lately. Been working a long weekend. Havent been able to sleep this stretch for some reason so have just been playing around with little stuff before work. Got the skid almost tore down, new used slides ready for install (from one of the vipers, hardly even worn). Got all the wheels tore down and bearings and seals cleaned and ready to repack. Hood screens out and ready for paint. The more i think about it i may just repaint them black? Not sure what color to paint these hood screens? Any thoughts on the color guys!!??

No im leaving the engine alone. Its spotless and only has 2 grand on it. I am going to peel the head gasket so ill get a good look at the domes then. Chain case is off to get track out. Thanks

Woops i thought that said gonna tear it down. lol! No not going to gear it down yet. Starting with the reed stopper notch and thinned head gasket. I see a lot of guys drop 1 tooth on the top. Shall see. I am going with the turk clutch kit as money alows. Looking for low end grunt and pull with this sled. This will be strickly a corner to corner sled.

I'd say Red vent screens, but on that sled the Yellow would look sharp too...

Yea i thought of yellow also. Was trying to make the yellow not look so out of place to me. But im thinking of doing black at the red skid plate screen and nose screen and fading to red at the top screens. Maybe some yellow in the middle? Not sure will play with that this weekend.

Got some viperizing done today. Got the rear heat exchanger mounted with the viper bumper and cover. Did have to redrill bumper cover bolt holes. I didnt think to paint the natural aluminum viper rear mounting bracket because the xtc one was natural aluminum also. May tape off and paint or polish, not sure yet. I had to use my viper hoses (1") and just slip them over a piece of the xtc hoses (3/4") at the sled heat exchanger, worked perfect. Tried heating the ends of the 3/4 hose and slip it over the 1" exchanger tube but no go. Then mounted my viper seat and seat riser. Really makes this sled look awesome and bring it up to date with the vipers at least. I also got my 2" block riser on with my viper handle bars, hooks and hand guards mounted also. Then put front end back together with supports and such straightened out. Steering came right back in line. I will check skis once done. Also painted the hood screens. Im going to try a blended look by starting with black and matching the hood sticker colors with the screen colors. Should turn out pretty nice when done (i hope)! Painted the windshield black, looks really nice in person. Hard to tell in the pic. Used the wetsand inside of shield method, then paint with flat black. Dries to a nice higloss black finish that wont scratch or peel. Few pics of today
