I picked up an electronic tach that has as a pickup a few turns around one spark plug lead. In order to get the correct RPM I need to set the number of sparks per revolution. Since it appears the two spark plugs are in series, I assume the answer would be two sparks per revolution - one per TDC of each cylinder. BUT, the CDI might be hitting it more than once per power cycle.
Any help here? BTW the factory tach is driven from the engine by a cable and is $$$$$ assuming you can find one.
Thanks
Dave

Thanks for the info. It is what I thought. Both cylinders fire at the same time only one is at the bottom of the stroke and gives a final scare to the unburned gas molicules before they hit the exhaust
