I had my engine rebuilt and its running great. But the mechanic (not Yamaha aware it appears) did not have the plugs of the harness and carbs plugged in correctly. I got flashing error codes at idle.
I did some research and found some info. It appears the connectors are different and plug into certain carb locations only. But I could have made a mistake. One connector was left unplugged by the mechanic. It runs great when its cold. But once warmed or not very cold outside it bogs down. Leaving to cool down a while and starting again and its a different engine. Something is not right with the fuel mixture it seems.

Anyone with specifics on what goes into what plug so I can very it. Also is there any adjustment I can check which may be wrong with it doing this?

This machine had gotten too heavy for me and I cannot lift the back end when I get stuck (happens a lot with this oem track). I have to drive over 6 -8ft drifts riding the top for long distances. I either go off the side and stuck against brush or dig a hole 3-4ft deep and stand in a 5 ft hole and have to dig my way out. Knowhere to turn drive out only turn around. This is a 3-5hr job(each time) Its going to kill me.

I need a lighter sled and far more capable in deep snow. A lot more capable which will claw through anything. Maybe a 1.5" track in a single seat fan cooled chassis would shed 200lbs off the sled.

I have the same sled I and have had the carbs off for cleaning, my wiring harnesses were are all marked with letters, also gray plug to gray and black to black, I'll will check the specific wire colours for each plug, gray plugs are for the lower carb solenoids and black for the top one's.

Looks like the dark green with the white strip goes with th black plugs and the light green with the white strip with the gray plugs.

Well I will promote you as the expert.
All the years and post on Smart carbs and KNOWONE as any insite on this nor setting up details. Mine were taken out and apart by a motor mechanic in a rebuild. He didn't get the wiring back together right some plugs were just not done and codes flashed. I figured it out enough to find somewhere to plug them and the codes went away. But I wasn't anywhere near sure if they were right or not.

Well thanks,lol.
Maybe you can help me with my issue? Take a look at my post and let me know if you have ever had an issue like this with your 600 before.
Thanks

I would have to look it up but you have to have the system set up so the solnoids are in the right place...one is for high speed and one is low....you can also change jet and needle settings if you need to fine tune the fuel curve....I ran 153 mains in my venture

Thats I ran it a bit when it was -7C and colder it appeared ok at low speed but not at higher speed and not responsive. I need to look at those wiring connections again with some certainty whats going where since its +4C right now I can work on it with some comfort and move things around.

All those wires and connectors should be plug and play with no chance of mixing them up. It should also be simple enough as to which goes where due to the wire lengths. You can double check by simply going wire color for wire color.

All the components in the smart carb system are testable, but some require a special harness tool from yamaha. There is actually a test lead built into the system that this test plug attaches to.

You can rule out the solenoids by powering them up and listening fora clicking sound or you can unplug one and fire the sled and watch for a code, or you can test them for resistance with a multimeter. The throttle position sensor can be tested as well as the fuel switch and the air temp sensor. I dont recall if you casn test the atmospheric sensor behind the airbox or not.

If you cant get your hands on the test lead(yamaha dealer), it wouldnt be overly difficult to fashion your own with some wires and a 12v battery.

I know that some plugs won't go into others when I was working on it last year after the rebuild. I had codes flash error on the light. On plug was hanging free. I found a home for the all after that but whether they are the correct home I am uncertain.

I had a look and the two grey plugs are connect below. No way to know which one to connect to as the wiring colour of the carb side is different than the outputs on all connectors so no match is possible. I swapped the two black plugges in the even they were intended for a different carb. If this isn't it then the carb is likely adjusted wrong. Where ever that is and method is still a mystery.

That swap appears to have made a difference as its not bogging down. Although its +5C and the snow is very mushy and I can see on my return ride up the local straight trail that the track appeared to be spinning for traction with the tach at 7k unless I matted the trottle it went to 7.5k. A lot of drag on the dully carbides I have on the skis. Had I known that I wouldn't have got them but that was what was call for on these plastic skis. I am thinking of cutting one of them off. They leave a very deep trench in whatever surface I am on. On dirt or soft gravel its hard to get enough push to move. It will be -10C on Monday so all this wet slushy snow with be a impossible block of ice (whats left of the 18" snow storm this week).
