I have a skid off a 94 VMax and I'm tempted to drop it into my 85 SRV. What kind of an idiot am I for thinking this might be simple?

Well, if I HAD an Xtra 10, is probably do that. As it stands, I have the VMax skid. So, I'll give it a try. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Vmax tunnels are wider (16") than the rest so the skid mounts are also wider. Big headache to install into and SRV and not really better. Not worth the effort.

[emoji15] well, darn. Anyone want to buy a VMax skid - or swap for a Xtra 10?

Glad you posted this. I was debating whether to install a Vmax 600 skid or the 83 SRV skid in my SS440. Checked to measurements on the Vmax after your post and it's definitely for the wider tunnel. Made for an easy decision.

if that skid is in excellent condition, or better than what you have now, its nothing to narrow the two mount points to allow fitment. i have done many. suspension cycling and ride quality isnt any better as they basically are the same skid with the 94 seeing a few minor improvements.
as i said, condition is everything. parts are equally hard to find for both skids. i wouldnt think twice about upgrading if the skid is worth it, ask me how. i know how you eastern guys have very rusty and questionable things compared to us out here in the pure snow. if memory serves me correctly, the rear scissor point mounts in a different location, fronts the same

OK, then would it upgrade an SS440? Mine doesn't have a skid, so I WAS going to put the SRV skid there. Why take out the SRV skid if they are that similar. Less work to just mid it and put it in my SS!
