Just wondering if there's a thread in the tech section about how to do a rebuild. I looked but I couldn't find anything...might not have been in the right area. I think if there isn't a how to, somebody should do one with pics!

Which engine are you going to be rebuilding? You will definetly need a small hone, which can be found at a partsource, maslack, canadain tire, etc one particularily that you can place in the chuck of any drill, usually 40$. You will also need a lubricant for it, I have used a lubricant as light as WD-40, others may say not to but it works just fine, used that on my first 3 rebuilds (cast-iron AND nikasil bores) yes a nikasil bore should be honed so rings can seat properly. Either a top end gasket set or a full engine gasket set would be required. If sled is yamaha get it from dealer instead of Royal Dist. some gasket material will be able to be re-useable which I would rather pay the small extra...just a start...Why a rebuild....

image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgSo I tore into the spare 540 engine last night. Bench is a mess I know...do I need some sort of a puller to get that part off? Not sure what it's called.

A steering wheel/harmonic balancer puller works if you are talking about the flywheel.
