First off I cant post in the Tech section for some reason....

Basically I've always been into motorsports. But I've been always into bigger engines and power. I can fix and build just about anything and I run a side business.

Anyways, I just rode my first sled last year. Bought a 2000 sxr700 3 days after riding my first sled. Basically snowmobiles are foreign to me.
When it comes to Clutching, tuning, and jetting and all that I'm so lost. My sled rides good and pulls hard. Totally stock. But as all motorsport junkies I Kind of want more power.

So basically... Parts I can put on. I'll rebuild a sled no problem. But I need some serious guidance when it comes to the rest. so who has good resources to point me towards so I can learn what is what?

Welcome to the site, you have come to the right place for all your needs. I would start off by getting the manual on your sled, everything you need is in there. Then just do a search on anything you are looking for and you can read for days. Clutching set ups, engine mods ect....http://www.totallyamaha.com/snowmobiles/aaTECH/tuning page.htm Few tips in this link for your sled. These sleds responded well to reed spacers, silencer mod http://www.totallyamaha.com/snowmobiles/aaTECH/silencer_boring.htm, thinner head gasket (must run premium fuel) ect. http://www.totallyamaha.com/snowmobiles/aaTECH/sxrfaq.htm . All this is found in tech section from link on home page. Not sure why you couldnt post that section, not sure where you were trying to post. But for your sled you will get the most traffic posting in this section.

Ya. I always run premium as it doesn't have ethanol. I want to mod it. But at the same time I want to keep it reliable and not have to tune it all the time

Welcome to the site! The mods mentioned by Super1c are all reliable and reasonable mods. Find Turks clutching specs in the technical pages, they are a great starting point for clutching your SXR. I tried to get a link for that page and it didn't copy. The sled you bought is a very reliable sled. I put 15000 miles on mine before I blew a piston.

Awesome. Don't know a whole lot and just have heard 2 strokes are temperamental. Just want to kind of maintain the fact I can just fire my sled up and not have to pull a million times. If i can do those mods and still maintain that reliability then I'm definitely doing them. Thanks for the info!

To get to the tech section,
At the top of the forums page, go to TY HOME
Then on the left side of TY HOME, click on TECHNICAL PAGES
In the center/left of the TECHNICAL PAGE, click on SNOWMOBILE TECH.

And don't be afraid to use the search engine or ask questions. We were all there at on time.
