Ok, so I've got my srx up for sale or parting out. If I part it out I want the engine to sell first. My question is, what does a complete running engine consist of part wise and what do they normally sell for in canada? Thanks

Well there's a few things you should clarify first,as to what all is included with the engine. Some guys sell just the bare bones engine itself,no carbs or electronics ( stator ) ,with it and that would be cheaper, say in the $ 700 to $ 1000 range. Depending on mileage and year of block. The 98/99's may not be as sought after as the 00-02's,although the cranks are the same the cylinder porting, heads and stator are different.
If your selling the whole shooting match together with carbs and stator I'd figure that would add about $150 or so to your starting price of a bare engine. Given that a carb rack is going to fetch upwards of $100 and a stator will run about $100 used,so price yourself accordingly.

These are prices I see for SRX stuff locally here in NB so take that for what it's worth. Maybe your area has more SRX parts for sale and the prices may be lower, and of course selling prices will vary as to what someone is willing to pay too.

Minimum bare bones is the way id like to sell it....I have a guy interested in it and he seems willing to pay $1k for it but he's got a 98 srx. Will this be a direct swap for him?

Well, physically the engines are identical but the electronics are quite different. I assume this is the 2000 engine you have for sale? If so the only way it'll work in the 98/99 chassis is if the buyer swaps the stator for that one or changes the whole wiring harness for the sled. The pickup coil is mounted in a different spot because the newer 300 watt stator uses a smaller diametre flywheel. If the buyer was willing to transfer all the engine internals to a crankcase for a 98/99 then he would be able to bolt it in his chassis and use the original electronics. That's a bit of a long winded answer but I hope it gives you an idea of what to tell your potential buyer.
