I stripped down a 1970 SL338 twin carb, twin exhaust that I bought a few years back, I thought it was decent for rust issues, and just one spindle to fix, but once I got the track out I realized the bulkhead is pooched. Can any guru's tell me if they kept the same body for 71/72 and if the 433 is the same with the exception of the seat? I have everything else, but this body would be 100 hrs of metal work to ever get it back in shape.
This model was the first sled I ever rode as a kid, and had fond memories of my parents dragging me around on it, so I jumped at the only one I have ever seen since.
thanks for any help!

1970, 71 and 72 for that chassis with some minor differences. The chassis will fit any seat but you need the tank. A nice mod is a GP 246 center mount tank and seat. The 433 engine retained the same basic geometry for many years though I would suggest an Exciter engine with its taper end crank giving you modern clutching as well as some more power. Good luck.
Don't want anything modern, and want all my stock 70 SL338 parts to fit, and I have all the pieces I need...just need a good belly and tunnel. Hoping I'll get a local lead on a body, but thanks for the info. I'm more of a John Deere guru, and have had 21 in my collection at one point...but the Yammi has a sentimental part for me

21! How do you do it? I have 4 runners plus one project and I can barely keep up. My first sled was a brand new 71 SL 338, so I can relate. I however want modern, I love restomodding. This is a 70 chassis with a GP 440 driver, aluminum-secondary with juice brake, 82 SRV skid and 93 V-Max-4 track, plus a few other goodies....heh heh heh

A 21 Yam salute.
Well I had to kill the dream for now...hunted around for a body but no luck locally. Maybe someday I'll run into one, or just break down when the CDN dollar is better and buy a runner out of the U.S.

I'm going to a sled salvage yard thats going out of business next weekend. One day to get what we we need and then its all being crushed! I'll see if I can grab a chassis for you. I have a 72 GP 433 in excellent condition....but that's not going anywhere.
