Not sure how far you want to go but I am about a 1 1/2 hour drive from Lafayette. I could help you out. I am in the wanatah area.

what do you specialize in? I took it to one guy and i think all he did was clean the carbs. But it just sucks fuel. like i said only rode about 30 miles and was at half a tank and i filled it at the gas station in trout lake. So i dont know what is going on. thought it could be choke cable was too tight or the carbs need tuned by someone good or rebuilt. and the stator needs to put on and i would like electric start put it in while the stator is being replaced.

I can't say I specialize in anything. It is really just a matter of getting the manual and checking specs. There is countless things that could cause fuel mileage problems. Have you thought about just trying to do this work yourself? You can accomplish a lot with the service manual and searching this site and asking questions. Everyone on here is very helpful. How many miles on this sled?

i have cleaned them myself before and it just hasnt been running right, just been using lots of fuel the past couple of years . its got like 3k original miles. same motor clutch, reeds, intake, exhaust everything is stock.

Have you checked the float level and the choke plungers? Also sometimes the fuel lines get hard and then they don't seal properly. Make sure exhaust and air box is not blocked. Is it the stock foam on the air box? I put a piece of foam over the air box on my vmax 600 one time because mice chewed the stock foam in the hood and it choked it out pretty bad. Clutch bind can also make it seem like it is not running right. That also happened on my 600 and I thought the motor blew. It could be possible the stator being weak would make it not run right if it is not getting much spark. There are tons of things that it could be. It is probably something simple. Usually the simplest thing is the hardest to find. Just a few ideas to try.

The stator did go bad on my last trip to michigan, i need to purchase a new one to replace it. I really have no clue what it could be but i definitely need to go out and take the carbs off and inspect every inch of the sled.
