I am working on trying to get my MM as light as possible. Right now I have a new tunnel, xtra light skid (extending to 151"), boss seat, and triple pipes. Working on getting lightweight trailing arms and hood. So I am thinking about removing the oil tank, and replacing it with a little oil tank (around 12 oz), just to lubricate the crank bearings. Then premix the oil. But I would keep the oil pump to lubricate the crank bearings.
My question is should I keep the oil pump settings so that it works with the throttle? Or just fix the pump to wide open to make sure the bearings are getting an oil supply?

It might run kinda rough that way, with too much oil going to the bearings the oil would build up in the crank and foul the plugs.

I feel like this comes up every year. In the long run I don't think there is anything to be gained by deleting the factory oil injection system. You could always put 2 quarts of oil in the tank instead of filling it. The last place I'd want to be is out in the woods and have something go wrong and burn up the motor and get stranded in the middle of nowhere.
