I have complety checked out everthing, All connections good resistance readings all good switches good, just not getting any voltage out of the CDI Box ? Any other options for hook up? Once again this is on a 2000 SRX. Looking for ideas?
Thanks Terry

My warmers had quit working on me and it turned out to be the warmer dial. But if you say you've checked all switches, then it could very well be cdi.

I was getting an intermittent code for the thumb warmer on my 02 mtn max. The dial ohm'd out fine but internally something was shorted internally because the thumb warmer was on HI whenever the sled was running. It would heat up and start to burn me. The CDI was smarter than me. I didn't believe it but that's what it was. Have you checked for power at the harness connector with the knob unplugged? You may need a helper to run up the throttle I don't think you start getting measurable voltage out of the cdi until around 3000 rpm.

Thanks for the replays. I checked voltage a idle...... back to trouble shooting. One thing I have noticed is that upon start up the sled flashes only twice vice three times? Doesn't match any trouble shooting codes I have from the manual?

Mine would flash twice then a third quick flash....which was the code for the dial or just the hand warmers in general.

my 2000 does the same thing on start up also.

This is interesting because I have retro fitted 2000 SRX electronics to my '98 and I too have the 2 flashes on startup, but if I hit the kill switch and then pull it back before the engine completely dies so that it essentially it starting back up I do get 3 normal flashes.I don't know if this quirk has something to do with the 2000 being a one year oddity in the CDI or what. Thanks for the replays. confirmed, 2000 = 2 flashes, my 2002 = 3 flashes

Wow, confused on this one. My 99 always flashed 3 times on start. One thing is for certain.... hand warmers don't work regardless. Is there a hot wire to pull power from to try a temp power check for troubleshooting? Where would you hook up a heated shield too? So my thought would be to try that after unhooking the ususal power from the CD box? Maybee I will just try hooking a 12 volt battery in its place and unhook CD feed? Thanks Terry

Anyone ideas? I think I will just start replacing parts????? I just purchased some handle bar muffs to use in the meantime. I only ride the old girl on sundays to church anyway!

If you don't have one buy yourself a volt meter and check the voltage on the power wire for the grip circuit for starters. I'm not sure what the voltage is supposed to be on a 2000 but I'm thinking it's the same as my '98 and it would be 12 volts AC. Check the resistance of the grips themselves,1.5-1.8 ohms. Check the thumb warmer resistance too,I forget the value. Check the dial itself too,I have had one go bad. If all those check out, according to the troubleshooting chart,it could be the regulator,a condenser or the stator.

I have my heated shield power cord wired into the tail light wire with the cord itself fed up between the seat and gas tank.

I hooked mine into an unused back-up alarm plug QD. Mine is just above where the stator wires come out.Where would you hook up a heated shield too?

x2. i hated that damn beeper so much, so i dismantled it and use it for my shield too
