I know I have done this before by fishing through the filler for the line and filter then coaxing it out through the filler. The Project 2001 SRX will not allow this since the line seems to be too short. Do I need to separate the line off the fuel outlet? There is a crimp there on the hose that might not go back so easily. IDEAS?

I pulled the line through the tank at the bottom, then added a piece of line to the fitting to make it longer then I was able to pull the filter up through the neck.

What shaggyzr2 said.Take the outlet off and pull the line out, pull the hose off the metal elbow so you can put a longer piece of hose on the gas line so that when you pull the filter out through the top of the tank you have enough on the other end that you can pull it back through the outlet.

Why don't they make it easy? If it was a little longer you could just fish it out through the filler....

If it were too long it could end up over the top of the sending unit from all of the the bouncing around, that would cause your fuel gauge to not work.

That's a good point but i know that i have changed the filter in my 2001 and fished it out of the filler.
