My new neighbor has a 1998 Yamaha vmax sx 600 he's up graded a lot on it and he tried to take his clutch off with a hammer and busted it. So now he has a clutch off a 92 exciter on it. He changed the weights and spring and left the rollers and now doesn't have the rpms he did before I told him to put the rollers from the 600 in and he would be good to go. What's the size difference on the rollers? He don't think there's difference and that the problem but I think it is. What do you guys think???

Not sure exactly when they changed to the taller cap but I had to use the taller cap putting a clutch off of a 96 vmax to 99srx. I am thinking the switch was in 97 but don't hold me to it.

I run a exciter clutch on my 97 with no problems but I also changed weights spring and rollers. He only changed weights and spring.

The Exciters ran a 15.5mm roller. Im pretty sure the Vmax 600 uses a 16mm. Smaller roller acts like a heavier weight.

So he should use the 600 rollers like I did.
