Hello,,new to the site. Just picked up a 2004 sx viper today,,my first Yamaha sled. Seems like very nice condition with electric start and reverse.Did a cylinder pressure check,got 125/125/117 ,,,,117 on the clutch end. The sled has 2900 miles. Is this ok numbers? Also,,the date of manufacture is 5/2003,,, this would be a 2004 correct? That's what they said it was. Thanks!

Welcome to the site. Compression is perfect and staggered from the factory so the 117 is not low. Yes the year is always stamped as one year earlier. because it was manufactured and assembled in 2003 for the coming 2004 season.

Thanks Mac. I'm looking forwards to riding it this winter. It's a comfortable sled to sit on. I paid 2000.00 for if,,,is that a decent price? Mechanically and cosmetically I can't see any wrong with it.

Yeah you did fine with pricing. Do keep in mind your new to you Viper is 12 years old. I hope your able to perform your own simple mechanical adjustments and maintenance because we all know the dealers cost a small fortune.
This site has alot of helpful guys who can assist with guidance and repair recommendations. Please also use the search functions as most every question imaginable has been asked and answered a dozen times here over the years. Theres plenty of reading in the tech section covering many topics. Enjoy.
