As in one of my previous stories I got water in motor somehow and ruined a few crank bearings,
Well I just received my replacement bottom end instead of rebuilding this crank, took it apart and was glad to see it was a welded crank.
Time to clean everything up and start reassemble of entire motor, what I am looking for is any tips or tricks of things I can improve the motor before rebuild begins.
I have a service manual on cd so I know about 2 stroke oil in cavity of oil pump water pump shaft and recommended to use yamabond 4 to seal cases, any other info is appreciated can't wait to hear it run again. I have redone the top end about 1700 miles ago when I had a cylinder melt down after only putting 20 miles on after buying it. Should I put new rings in again or reuse.
Also noticed my vforce 3 reeds are starting to get chipped. Any info on life span of reeds or if I should replace them. Not even sure if can buy replacement reeds, might have to switch to Boyeson or go back to stock

New crank seals. Now would be the time to do any case porting if you ever wanted a little more power...but its getting a little late to get that done and have it ready for the season.
Ditch the V force....every sled i have bought with them, the pedals were toast....

I have done porting and polishing on small block Chevy heads , any of that similar to case porting,
What is recommended for reeds, I have enough stock ones that are good laying around to make a good set

New crank seals were one of the main reasons why I took original motor apart, had a set laying in tool box ready to put in and found the bad news of rust on crank bearings
A couple of bucks

Unless your doing some other mods like porting or something to up the HP numbers drastically then stock reeds will work every bit as well as the high dollar ones. As far as case sealant,if you can get the Yamabond then use it but I've used a product called Motoseal. I believe it's a Permatex product and it works the same way. Both my SRX cases are sealed with it and it's held up well.
