I've got a 94 vmax 600 with a hole in the front cooler. When looking on a yamaha part site it shows that the 95 and 96's didn't have a front cooler, would it be possible to bypass the front cooler on the 94 like on the 95's and 96's?

yamaha changed the rear heat exchanger on the 95-96 over the 94 to eliminate the possibility of damage along with some slight weight savings. you can make your own crossover to bypass your front cooler by simply using parts from the 95-96 or piping your own. in most cases, you wont have issues but that will be snow condition dependant, as with any sled.

you will find it much easier and cheaper to bypass the 94's cooler and swap out the rear cooler for a newer version than finding a replacement for the 94 and going through all the hooplah of getting that thing out. on the 95 and 96 models, some baffles were added to the rear cooler for efficiency and thats the only difference. you would have to cut them in half to see the difference. look for parts from the 95-96, they will be easier to find than the 94.

i ran a 93 exciter sx with the front cooler bypassed with no issues. remember that sled as the pre-cursor to the 94-96 v maxes. basically the same cooling system as the 94.
