Hey all I recently purchased a 1979 ex 440. I am looking to do some clutch work to it to wake it up a bit.
I have read a lot of guys are putting comet 102c's on them.
does anyone know if a p85 will work?
its off a 2002 polaris 500 xc sp.

any suggestions on weights or springs?

any help greatly appreciated

It would be alot less work to throw a Comet 102 on it, being that you can run the stock 1-1/4" belt with them. To run the P-85, you would have to machine the secondary to accept the wider 1-3/8 belt.

Kind of. Depending what you find. Some are set up for 1-1/4 and some are 1-3/8 for the most part. If you find one that isnt set up for your belt width, you will have to re-shim the movable sheave. Not a big deal though, any powersports shop should be able to do it for a couple of bucks.

right on, does ANYONE have a service manual for this weapon? I would be willing to purchase one from them???

If you go with the Comet 102C ...use the Comet purple primary #207758 along with the Comet N-1 weights #209642A (46.4 grams)

Hi, I have a few clutches . I am running the 108 comet A-1 red and white spring two washers. Have two polaris clutches. I have a comet 102 c with A-2 weights and sliver spring , just through the weights and spring in. Would this set up work ok for a back up. Or use the polaris clutch for a back up ? Have to get rid of some of these extra parts I have for this srv. Went over board on parts this summer.
