I picked up a rough 79 exciter and decided to retore it but change things up a bit along the way.
. The first thing I wanted to change was the chassis. So I stripped it down completely.
and decided to paint it black. This will really change the look of this sled.
I rebuilt the rear skid and installed a Polaris coil over shock to take full advantage of the 3.5 inches of travel lol
Put new bearings in the chain case, drive and jack shaft then started to bolt her back up.
. The next big job was the hood. Stripped it and got it ready for paint.
. I am changing up the graphics to an 80 an Just finished off the hood. That Gold on the black looks sharp !
I am using a GPX front end with the ski spreaders. This will really change the look and stance of the sled. Got everything powder coated and bolted in
It's starting to come together now
Just waiting for the heads to come back, bumping the compression a bit.
I gutted the exhaust (pulled a set of baffles ) and sent out for Ceramic coating Custom seat should be done in a week. Will post more pics as it goes back together.
Cheers!

That does look nice.
You should give your seat guys name if he would do more seats.

Volkers Upholstrey Edmonton Canada. Unfortunately he mentioned he may be retiring. It's harder and harder to find a good upholsterer........ Definitely a dying art

Thanks. The seat is generally a forgotten item to mod. And it can have a pretty dramatic effect. As u said

Oh ya, go Oilers. Lol
yes the black really makes all the colors pop for sure.
Spent 2 days on this thing and to say the least it is slow going. I finished off the chain case, dash, rear bumper, snow flap and mounted the seat. Since I painted the tunnel I decided to use traction tape on the foot well and 3m clear tape on the vertical portion to prevent boot wear down to the aluminum. Starting to look like a sled again. Working on the engine now got the heads and intake mounted. Waiting for the y pipe to come back from coating.

Not an SRX windshield. I cut down a new Exciter
W/S and painted the inside Black. Turned out pretty good
She will
Be done for sure. Just in time for the big dump we are getting now. And should be at Alberta Beach. Right beside your 338
