I picked up a new upper gear for a 01 MM7 with a part # 89J176820000. The parts guy didn't know if it was a 13 or 15 pitch. Does anybody by this part # what size the gear is?

Sure it's not 13 wide or 15 wide? Count how many links across your chain, should be 13 for MM then see if the gear fits. 15 wide was on 98-99 SRXs only. As for what size count the number of teeth on the gear.
