Hey guys. I have extensively spent at least 6 to 7 hours looking through this site and others to try to find an answer to this question. I was wondering if somebody could spell it out for me. I know that the front shocks can be exchanged on a 97 Vmax at Sx. All you have to do is remove the brackets that are there and order the bushings from the Viper and install them and everything is good. My question comes for the rear. Can you just purchased the two rear shocks and install them on the stock SX skid or do you need to replace the whole skid with the viper one. Are there any other things that need replacing too long travel it. Thank you in advance.

The front you have right. For the rear theres more to it than just adding longer shocks. Made the conversion on mine with help of a parts sled and it really wasnt worth it imo. If you dont already have parts or are getting them for cheap then your moneys better spent on a skid swap from another sled (scIII, edge, mono,etc

)

two rear shocks and limiter straps. Spacers are different but you can use your large ones and cut them down. It is well worth it as you can pick up a set of shocks usually for under 200, sometimes under 100.

Look for aluminum bodied version. make sure shafts are not rusted. Prefered shocks would come from Xtc, they had the best ride but many others will be better. You wont see much of a difference if you don't rebuild the skid at the same time.

My SX skid just got rebuilt and I have picked up a viper skid with the long travel shocks. I was going to swap everything over to the viper and then install that skid.

Transfer rods are different length if I remember right. I have a stock set at home off of a warrior. I can measure them when I get home if no o e else xhimes in.
