I have a 99 Vmax on the drive shaft closest to drive side the drive gear has shifted and is not lined up in the track. There is a two piece retainer that I loosened to try to adjust the gear to no avail. Does the drive shaft have to be removed to adjust this?

I believe you are refering to the plastic driver?? They should not be able to slide around on the shaft. They are pressed on and fit really tight.

Plastic driver it is, It has moved over approx. 1.5 inches to the outside of the track. I wonder if it can be pressed back into place. The other three drivers line up fine.

gotta press it back. driveshaft needs to be out. was the lock collar loose? shouldnt have moved with tight collars. be sure its not worn or spun on the shaft. check your index marks when you get the shaft out.

Once I got it out I was able to press the driver back into position. The collar was not very tight. Thanks for the help.
