Oil, but I remember reading some where the Mr viper stated the seals do this but don't leak air, maybe I read it wrong but I was looking for some for some input

electric start ones are always more dirty looking because of the starter gear contact dust/debris, but it may still be good... but for a $12 seal, and the sheer age of these engines now, I dont live on the edge...

check it, give that area a good cleanup. install your primary back on, fire sled up and spray some carb cleaner or starting fluid behind primary, see if motor tone changes. if it dose, seal is bad. 3:16x(yammie tony)

Yes and use yamabond 4 or the permatex motoseal 1 on the case halves when you put back together.thanks fellas, have to split the cases to install a new one correct?
