While servicing the 2002 Venture 700 I picked up recently, I found a few surprises left by the PO. One of them was the jetting. For the main jets, pilot jets, and jet needles, I found all OEM sizes, but the main jets in cylinders 1 and 2 were reversed.
One of the things I didn't check was the needle jet/emulsion tubes. I swapped the main jets and put everything back together when I realized that needle jets in cylinders 2,3 call for a Q4 needle jet and cylinder 1 calls for a Q8 needle jet. I don't know what needle jet is in what carb. Are the needle jets that much different?
My sled starts easily, and takes throttle without hesitation. If things aren't jetted 100%, I can live with that, but I don't want to damage the engine.
Does anyone know if there is a risk of engine damage if Q4 and Q8 needle jets are swapped?

PTO or #1 gets the Q8. 2,3 get Q4. #1 main jet 145. 2/3 main jet 143.8.
Yea, I knew that. Originally, I only read about the main jets, but further reading showed a difference in the needle jets too. Anyway, I couldn't stand not knowing, so I went out and tore the carbs off again. Cylinder #1 was Q8. Everything back together again. Knowing the carbs are right will let me sleep tonight

Right on ! For future use you can do the needle adjustments w/o pulling the carbs.

Yea, I had to pull the carbs to remove the needle jets, but I shouldn't have to pull them again.
