Hey everyone' just took a 91 exciter on trade and it is in very good shape. I have heard that these things has problems with the oil injections and i was wondering should i just disconnect it and mix my own gas? Or should i just check and make sure everything is in good working condition as it would be stock? Or should i invest in the bender direct oil injection kit? Any help would be awesome. Thanks...

They do not have problems with the oil injection. You can leave it stock and it will be perfectly fine. I do like the Bender direct injection kit though. Thats the way I prefer to run mine.
Have had several exciters both new and used and never had nor heard of them ever having problems with oil injection as a clean sweep problem. Im sure some had troubles over the years but yamahalube didnt win all those awards back in the day for being above all the best injection on the market for no reason. Check it over as u simply wont know for sure till u do but i wouldnt lose any sleep.

For piece of mind I ran clear lines from the oil injection pump. Pop the hood and check to ensure the lines are full of oil to each carb / cylinder.

I haven't been around the sledding world for a long time but from what I have read, the Exciter oil injection systems are not known for issues like already state above. When I acquired my 89' Exciter, I replaced all of the oil injection lines including the oil level line for piece of mind. I also replaced the T-fitting where the oil injection lines mix with the fuel before the fuel pump. Plastic gets brittle with age and didn't want to take the chance of one of the fittings snapping while riding.
Brass barb
I have the same sled my exciter when I got it already had the bender kit on it I replaced lines cause mine had fell apart. When I was replacing lines I lost brass barb going into rubber spacer between carb and head....where can I get one? Or do I need one been running sled the one carb I hooked line on top side to a barb fitting that had rubber cap on it? What is that? For safe measure I premixed 50:1 to make sure it was pumping oil and line are both full....thanks

That barb is an Arctic Cat part. Part number 3003-597
Awesome! How should I glue that in? What do I glue it with? What will happen if I run it on the barn on carb that has rubber cap on it? Bi taped the other hole shut but some friends wanna ride this weekend can I run it hooked to that barb on top side of carb?

In the past, I have put some jb weld or red loctite on the nipple and tapped it gently into place. Do not just "tape" the hole shut. First off, it wont hold. Secondly when the tape does let loose, you could burn your motor down. Throw a small screw in it with some Yamabond 4 on it and thread it in. Make sure the screw isnt too big or you will damage the bore and the new nipple wont stay locked in.
Yes, you can attatch the oil line to the primer nipple on the carb.
