I picked up some 540 cylinders today and was wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of gains were had by adding reed cages to these engines?? I think these were built by RPC. They obviously need to be rechromed, but I thought they were interesting enough to pick up.

Well Bob, Dont get too excited. I studied these a bit and they almost appear to be an experiment gone wrong. I dont think they make any real power judging by how much volume and distance there is between the reed cage and the cylinder. There is no real difference over stock porting other than the added boost ports....small boost ports.

I still see Jeff Simon at times, if it came from Riechards, he would know I thought ablout putting reeds on mine but that project took so long, just never got there. I do have a SRV Fan 540 that has V Force reed cages welded on

More rare then a 57 Les Paul
