After riding this new to me sled for the first time today iv decided I definitely need more track om the ground. The cheapest way iv come across is to put on skid extensions and come up with longer sliders and a 136 track. So is this a good idea? would I also need a tunnell extension or would it fit behind the oem setup?

Will need tunnel extension for sure. But it is a good option. Another would be for skid to find a 136 mono or sc111. I used extensions on my Vipers and was very happy.

Tunnel extension is needed. I'm gonna do the same thing to my vmax sx so I've been looking at different kits. I've looked at slp (the cheapest) and no track and complete kit from tracks USA (the most expensive) and Hartman (the best deal) I think and Hartman is the one I am going with.

I would recommend the 136 mono if you can. When I had the 121 pro action with the 1 1/4" ripsaw it would just sit and sno cone out the back until it hit dirt. When I changed to the mono 136 with a 1" hacksaw it hooks up like crazy now. Not totally sure if it is the extra length or the hacksaw just hooking up better or the mono transfers weight better. Or could be a combination, but I do know that it is a huge difference. And it rides way better.

Ok. Extensions it is. Does anyone have a tunnell extension brand preference? Im in Canada and cant find one for a yamaha in royal distributing. So im gunna haveta find another source and i dont know where to start looking.

I'm in the process of doing everything your talking about to my 98 SRX 700, I bought rail extensions from Tracks USA part number YAM-100, also bought a 15 x 136 x 1.5 track and a tunnel extension from Royal Distributing, the tunnel extension is for a Polaris in the same year as my 98 and it fits perfectly!!!! I'll let you know how it all works out if we ever get any snow this season.

This is what it looks like after the rail extensions, 15 x 136 x 1.5 track and Polaris tunnel extension

I also flipped and swapped the upper front shock brackets to gain an inch or two on the front end

Made my own 3 inch drop down brackets for the rear
