i have a 1999 mountain max 600 when i try to start it i get no spark but a little bit of current to plug just not enough to make it spark, but if i unplug the dc regulator it will spark, I've tried replacing all 3 regulators and cdi box also tried a new wiring harness, what else could be causing this problem? bench tested the stator everything except the hand warmer coil on it is working within specs

Welcome to the site
Does it have a good ground and is it getting fuel.

Did you replace plug caps?

I would suspect the plug caps are due. Or at the very least some moisture got in the wire where the cap is screwed on an its corroded.

i tested the caps and they are within specs and its getting lots of fuel i can start it without the regulator just not with it. there was only one ground i could find it was from the wiring harness to the frame i took it off and cleaned it, it was a little corroded but not badly

You could have rub through somewhere but the vipers were known more for that then the red heads.
