Do I need to take the entire chain case off to remove the drive shaft?? I have the bottom gear off and the speedo off

For me, if you unbolt it from the bulkhead, you gain more space to work with. I wouldnt call it removal, more so moving it out of the way, laterally.

The main structural portion of your sled that all the important stuff bolts to. It would be the extra 3 or 4 12 mm headed bolts left over after you remove the cover off the chain case, securing the chain case to the bulkhead. Not including the brake assembly. Unbolt it as a unit and lift off.

I have all the bolts off the chain case it will move a little but can't get it off. With it lose I still can't get the drive shaft off

Did you remove the speedo bearing? There are two torx set screws.(although that might not matter). And I completely pulled the chaincase cover out to pull the driveshaft off. A lot easier.

Yes removed speedo bearing just have hard time removing chain case. The top gear and bottom gear are off in the chain case and all the bolts are

Did you get the bolt on the bottom right of chaincase. It took me a while to find that one.
