well went riding a bit yesterday and today. There is a lot of good snow to ride in now.I am breaking in the new rings in the SRX,and riding aggressive not baby like.Varying the throttle and all.She has some good snap to her and one thing I noticed this season(after I rebuilt the primary) the sled is really running well in deeper snow,no more bog or loss of speed when I pin it thru the deeper stuff.Years before if I hit a deep area of snow, motor would really bog down and sound awful. Like it was shifting from 1st gear into 3rd...now she is loving the deeper stuff and stays on top and the motor is just humming that sweet sound.Had no problem today running 80 mph in 2 feet of snow and sounding snappy.
These little 700's are a nice engine...especially if you treat them well.Love my SRX!!!

So what do you attribute the better performance in the pow to?

I imagine that my clutch's are working more efficient now.Last season I was leaving black marks on my primary sheaves thinking my belt is probably no good.Even though it was a new belt that season.I am using the same belt still and now the primary is mark free, belt must be holding on better.Guess I am not shifting the belt to quickly in the 2ndary..sled really feels like fun to ride in the powder now.
Keeping your clutch's clean and in good working order really does make a difference in performance as I can feel now.

It is amazing how much a good clutch cleaning makes a sled run smoother.

I now have 11,500 miles on the original motor.Did a rebuild at 6450 miles back in 2010.(complete tear down and new seals,gaskets,pistons,rings..etc.) All new bearings thru out sled, new track, studs, hyfax, radius rod ends, steering rod ends, new pv cables, exhaust donuts new, water pump seal..etc. in 2011.
Clutching is 8DN-20's with 5 grams inner and 5.5 grams outer.RPM's 8500 give or take 100 rpms.Replaced bushings this season in primary and probably made the most difference since last season. Secondary is red spring at 80 stock helix.I am happy with the way she runs...
