Looking for some input. Recently picked up this 480Lt and I am in process of getting it in order. It's running nice now but hits 7000rpm and only gets around 65kmh for speed. Does anybody else have one that could tell me what it should hit for a top speed. I'm sure I've got clutching issues but am lookin for a target to reach for. It's hard to find info for this sled, like a ghost it is not in the parts fiche listings until '97 and I think it hit snow around '91 or '92. Can't find owners manual, original spec's etc. any input would be appreciated. My yammie knowledge is a little dusty since I had a phazer last over 20years ago.

Thanks guys. Cleaned clutching. Seems I have a phazer replacement primary as the engagement is around 3400 and it calls for 2900 on this Lt model. Secondary is supposed to have a pink spring at 60degree b2 setting. I have a blue/yellow spring that I put in b2 which gave way more preload. Played around with the secondary holes and got 60 degrees now. Seems better getting up to around 90kmh now. Put some maker lines on the clutch sheaves and am getting travel up to 3/4" from top of primary and about the same from the bottom of secondary. If the spring is a little heavier than the pink its supposed to have would looking for a slightly lesser preload help to get full clutch/belt travel?

I should add that according to the spec sheets in the tech section the Lt has 17/38 gearing compared to the regular ventures that have 19/33 for gearing. I tried the gearing speed calculator but it won't let me input any values into the spread sheet.

Thanks guys. I bought a non-current 92' phazer back in 93. Broke it in properly and it seemed to get 80mph consistently on a good cold day on a hard pack 85. With this venture geared down for the long track I'm thinking 65 or so would seem around right. Seem to have more pressing issues with the back of the muffler getting so hot it glows orange and got the side panel hot enough to distort. Plugs look almost ideal coloured. Jetting is about right where it should be for elevation and temp. It seems to have a sputter/pop going on at low steady speed on the trail or down the side of the road. Wait it through or give a little more throttle and it comes through, smoothens out and pulls hard. Any ideas?
