I know its a Phazer thing but my 84 Phazer chaincase got so hot on a warm low 30 degree day that it melted the plastic breather nipple into a blob. Its been gone through with new bearings and seals and the pipe mount rubber grommets are all in place. I went to 75w/140 to offset the extreme heat but thinking about adding some major side panel venting...

Vents help a little but foot still gets hot.
When my foot gets hot I just drag it in the snow and I'm good to go.

I would think that there must be a bearing dragging for the case to get that hot.

no way you should be melting stuff. sticky brake, might want to check the seals in the shaft if it got that hot ....

10W30 should be more than enough for the case either your pipe is plugged a little , your brake is dragging, your rotor is rusted tight and not floating , or you have too much fluid in the case. that is the simple stuff
