So after rebuild of top end on a motor that was seized a couple of years ago when I start building pressure on cooling system I have a leak around carb cooling the on off knob. Anyone have this problem and is the bolt on the bottom allow it to come apart? Is there o-rings or seals in it?

Thanks.

Its a 2004 vioer-s

You could get rid of the valve altogether and just take the line straight from the head to the carbs. This just happened on a buddy of mines sled. That's what he did. Carb heat always on anyway.

Unless I am miss understanding your theory? The valve is part of the head on the viper? Not sure how you can bypass that?

replace the o ring or the sealing washer on the bolt securing it to the water rail at the head. probably under $10 for both. eliminate one or the other if your sure which ones leaking. i havent found an aftermarket o-ring, yet, but for the money just go oem.

I got lucky to find this..... I got the valve out and it was melted, in fact the side of the valve that closes off the head port was melted and broke off plugging the port. I have a machine fab shop at working I'm thinking i can make a new one with no blocking flaps on the valve with a better o-ring design. Otherwise the search is on for a new valve. If anyone has one please pm me. Thanks for the input.

I thought you were talking about the coolant on/off valve on the airbox for the carb heat. I missed the fact that it was a viper. (doesn't sound like it's the same) My buddies was leaking at the valve on a MM and he took the valve off, and took the line from the head straight to the carb rack bypassing the valve all together.
